The pro-series boards are built with the playing surface as one exposed sheet similar to a tabletop.
The American Cornhole League does use the pro-style boards in competition, if that is what you consider an official board.
If you want to know what the best quality boards are, you will probably be most satisfied with the pro-series. They will cost a little more and they are not as convenient if you are going to move them around a lot.
What makes them a little better is that they absorb the shock of the bag hitting the board more consistently and you don’t have to worry about the boards moving around as much because of the construction style.
Although this doesn’t really affect gameplay, the professional style boards would be better for tournaments because of the consistency.
The major downfall of these types of boards is that there are not a lot of different design choices available. They do have some pretty awesome patriotic and wood grain boards, but outside of those 2 design categories, there isn’t much to choose from. The wood grain boards are great for special occasions, just add a monogram or decal to celebrate a wedding or family reunion. Take a look at the different official ACA boards below. Each of these pro-series boards comes in a set with cornhole bags.
